Iron Horse historic homes in Tucson

The Iron Horse historic district is one of Tucson's oldest and smallest neighborhoods. It is tucked away adjacent to the historic Fourth Avenue area just north of Broadway and south of Tucson High Magnet School near the railroad tracks.

Iron Horse is an eclectic collection of local homes and local shops, including New Empire Foods, which dates back to the 1930s. The neighborhood has a community garden, park, bikeway and the rattlesnake footbridge that crosses over Broadway. UofA campus and a variety of cafes, restaurants and markets are within walking distance in downtown and North Fourth Avenue.

The neighborhood dates back to the 1890s and displays homes of Sonoran, American territorial, Craftsman bungalow, and Queen Anne revival style. There are approximately 500 residences in Iron Horse.
