The El Montevideo historic neighborhood, which lies between El Con Mall and North Alvernon Way, represents a variety of architectural styles popular in the 1930s when the neighborhood was founded.
Developed around the former El Conquistador Hotel, which was razed in 1968, El Montevideo has Spanish colonial, Sonoran, Pueblo revival style homes, as well as classic ranches and mid-century modern designs.
El Montevideo is bordered by Broadway on the south, Fifth Street on the north, Dodge Boulevard on the west and Alvernon Way on the east.
