Neighborhood spotlight: Tucson's scenic Foothills Clusters

If you are keeping an eye out for a neighborhood in a great location that offers reasonably priced single-family homes then consider Foothills Clusters in northern Tucson.

Situated high up in the foothills just north of Skyline Drive, Foothills Clusters has 350 single-story homes built from the mid-1970s.

The quiet neighborhood of 35 cul de sac streets is bounded by Alvernon Way to the east. The neighborhood is accessible via Evans Mountain Drive from both Skyline Drive and Alvernon Way.

Living in Foothills Clusters means being less than 10 minutes away from everything the desert has to offer - mountains, hiking trails and wildlife. Finger Rock Trail head is only 5 minutes away, as well as a variety of other hiking and outdoor options. La Paloma Country Club is just across East Skyline Drive for those wanting to join a nearby country club.

Homes are situated at 2,900 to 3,100 feet above sea level and many homes have lovely mountain views and night time views of downtown Tucson.

Foothills Clusters is only 8 miles (20-30 minutes depending on destination) outside of downtown Tucson and UofA. It's a short trip to schools, hospitals and daily necessities. For travel, the airport is approximately 35 minutes away. I-10 access at West Ina Road is about 15 minutes from Foothills Clusters.

Foothills Clusters does not offer any amenities such as a pool or recreational facilities. The neighborhood does have common space and an abundance of open desert landscape, however.

Being older, homes in Foothills Clusters are on the smaller side, averaging 1,700 square feet on lots up to one-half acre in size.

In the last 12-month period, a total of 19 homes have sold in Foothills Clusters for an average sale price of $361,547. On average, sellers are getting 98.8 percent of their asking price, which means homes are in high demand and buyers are willing to pay closer to list price.

As of year end 2019, two homes are listed in Foothills Clusters. Both are in the 1,800-square-foot range and are listed for $350,000 and $375,000.

The schools that serve Foothills Clusters include Sunrise Drive Elementary, Orange Grove Middle and Catalina Foothills High school.
